transitioning

SOTD: For when it's a beautiful day and the snow is finally melting.

Spring is upon us and during the months of March, April, and some of May it can be hard to find things to wear to accommodate life with weather. The key is layering. I'm going to link a few items that I think are good to have in your closet this spring and some options for cheaper and higher end alternatives. So that if you think it's worth the splurge you can, or if you'd like to save a penny you can do that as well. (Because I am a college student I understand how crucial this can be)

1. A denim jacket
Perfect to just throw on and go! It can look so cool with a t shirt, black pants, and some converses or flats.
Here is a cheaper H&M option here and then another option (but not too expensive) from Topshop here. I love the Topshop one because it's a little destroyed, however, there website had a page full of denim jackets from dark wash to light so if the destroyed look isn't for you they have a ton to choose from.

2. Rain boots
You know what they say...April showers bring May flowers. So to prepare for the rainy days but still be comfortable and chic I have a great option for you here from ASOS. I'm in love with these because they aren't too tall like typical rainboots and they have a cute buckle detail on the side. Another cute option is the leopard Chelsea boots that J.Crew has here. They are close in price but no where near the whopping $130 for Hunters (and cuter too).

3. Boyfriend Jeans
I love boyfriend jeans. They look great on everyone and they are super stylish yet comfortable which we all know is the best part. For spring we can do a couple things here: roll them up a little and show some ankle with a flat, rock your chucks, or the ever so edgy ankle Chelsea boot. Another great thing about having a good pair of boyfriend jeans is not only do they transition into seasons well, but you can take them from day to night in seconds by adding some heels. First, Forever 21 has an adorable pair here, as well as some here. If you're like me and jeans is one of the things you splurge on I have some options from Zara (pictured), Rag & Bone, Black ones from Topshop, and River Island.

Having the perfect cardigan at hand during this next couple of months is critical. It is a stable piece to have in your wardrobe anyway because I use it all year round. During chilly summer nights, all day during the spring and fall, and as an extra layer under my coat in the winter. 5. Flats
Time to show a little more skin! After hiding in socks all winter, (and after a pedicure of course) I love to throw on some flats with just about anything. Nice flats can dress up a t shirt, make a work look more polished, and loafers can bring an edge to your boyfriend jeans, and the best part? They are so easy. They ALWAYS look good. For this one I'm going to just include all of the pictures and you can click the actual photo to take you to the site because the variety is so wide!

cabin fever

SOTD: here

Item of the day: My item today is actually just a PSA. For all of you trapped inside tonight CBS is airing the very first Victoria's Secret Swim Fashion Show! It's at 10/9c so tune in. I'm excited because of course as I am a female I normally watch the regular show, however, I'm more interested in the swimwear because it's something I will actually purchase. (Not that the fantasy bra isn't my cup of tea but ya know)

Back again! It snowed another 5/6 inches last night. My cabin fever is getting out of hand. My plans of things to do today is do homework, write a post organize one of the closets, laundry, and then clean up my bathroom. So far I have started a load of laundry and started my homework. I'm taking a short break to write a post.

As for my health and fitness plans are going I've achieved barely anything. (my goal is just to simply look decent in a bikini) As far as my eating is going I'm doing a decent job being healthy. This is not normally a problem for me because I'm pretty healthy in general. I try to do good for my body since we only get one shot at it! I'm just trying to cut out the fats and sweets that I have sometimes and the bread and white rice I often have at work. The plan now is to do a better job at prepping. I normally make lunch everyday and have some veggies with some sort of brown rice/seed mixture. I make it for myself and make just enough to eat right then and some for the following day. I want to sort of spend two nights a week prepping and making meals for the entire week!! Right when it gets safe to drive again I'll be at Whole Foods. That is the main problem right now, the snow isn't helping anyone. I can't run outside or even go to the store to get fresh veggies. You get so bored that you eat and watch movies all day.I'm scheduled to go to spin class tonight but since I'm trapped I will not be making it. I have another one set up for Friday evening though that I'm hoping to get to if the roads aren't to bad.

As promised to my only 24 blog viewers- I said I would watch the rest of fashion week and talk a little bit about what my thoughts were. First off I'm sorry I love Gucci but what was with those hairy shoes? If you do not know what I'm talking about you NEED to look it up. Strange. Clothes were great, but those shoes were just something I did not understand. My new favorites though are Charlotte Ronson and Calvin, but it was Carolina Herrera that had me like "er ma gawd!" All the models rocked a sleek low ponytail with a silver embellishment holding it together which I adored. The long dresses were as beautiful as always and I noticed a lot of red here and there, but mostly gray and white and a muted purple/gray color. Everything was gorgeous so I had a hard time choosing. Here are some of my favorite looks:

escaping from homework

SOTD: here

Item of the day: I'm currently obsessing over these sandals from Forever 21. Normally I would order them in black but I'm choosing the tan for spring. I'm trying to stay away from black. Do not get me wrong I'm going to stick to my neutrals like usual but maybe more tans and whites this spring. Link to the heels are here

Faux Leather Ankle Cuff Sandals from Forever 21
Okay - so it's been snowing now since early this morning and it's finally slowed down. However, I think it's going to start back up again tomorrow night bringing us about 2-5 inches. Crap. Another week of extreme cabin fever. Molly (my best friend who I will refer to often) and I are sitting at her kitchen table doing homework and eating 50% off valentines day chocolates. (I took a break to write my first post) I was over here the other day with my new March Vogue and I was telling her I'm seeing so many things that are 70's inspired. All over NYFW and all in my new Vogue as well as my new Marie Claire. I'm super excited. And this is why: I like black. Always have. I like gray, and beige and sometimes red. But when it comes to patterns I dig the 70s inspired looks. ("dig" - see what I did there) So this season I can actually enjoy colors a little more. Speaking of fashion week, I know everyone has moved on to London but I'm still trying to catch up with New York. There are so many shows and so little time! I'm doing my best to youtube a lot of them and visit my favorite Tumblr blogs to look at the fall looks. Before I wrap up here I will tell you my favorite show so far and its a surprising one! Michael Kors. I'm speaking in more wearable terms of course. Just as the everyday fall women wearable clothing items. I loved his looks. So much fur! I loved a ton of others as well, Marchesa was a close call. I'll be sure to update this blog as much as I can before the whole FW buzz dies down with more of my favorite shows.

Here is a look a few of my favorite looks from his show:

about my new blog

Hey guys! I decided to create a blog matching my Tumblr username. I'm slowly going to make links to my Tumblr, Email, Instagram, and Twitter as well as post at least once a week. I will always have a song of the day (SOTD) linked at the top and I will try to start having an item of the day as well.

I'm going to focus this blog on fashion as well as my life as a college student and other interesting things I have going on! Bare with me as the blog develops and becomes more aesthetically pleasing as well as functional.

Hopefully you can join me in watching my vision for this blog come to life!

Here we go-
